The company kicks of fiscal 2014 by renewing supply deal with Zimmer.
Alachua, Fla.-based surgical implant manufacturing company RTI Surgical Inc. announced a successful fourth quarter of fiscal year 2013, as well as a satisfactory year as a whole. The quarter saw the company achieve quarterly revenues of $60.5 million, exceeding revenue guidance of $59 to $60 million; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspection, conducted in October, was successful; and the company enetered into an agreement with Yankee Alliance, a group purchasing organization, for RTI’s complete line of surgical specialties implants. In fiscal year 2013, RTI completed the acquisition of Pioneer Surgical Technology Inc. The company also received 510(k) FDA clearance for the Fortiva porcine dermis implant and launched a new direct distribution organization carrying a complete portfolio of biologic implants for surgical specialties. RTI’s Map3 cellular allogeneic bone graft was successfully implanted in both spine and foot and ankle procedures. The year also saw the launch of RTI’s tritium sternal cable plating system for closing median sternotomies following open heart procedures. More than five million RTI implants were sterilized with zero incidence of implant-associated infection, according to the company. Finally, RTI broke ground on a new 42,000-square-foot logistics and technology center in Alachua. Through the newly acquired Pioneer Surgical Technology, RTI renewed a deal to supply Zimmer Inc. with integrated plates and cables, cannulated screws and instrumentation for its trauma business. Under the agreement, the company will manufacture the metal products at its Marquette, Mich. facility for distribution by Zimmer Trauma. “Zimmer is pleased to continue its long-standing collaborative relationship with RTI Surgical,” said Nathan Folkert, president, Zimmer Trauma. “They have been a valuable supplier for more than a decade, and I am excited they will continue to help us accomplish our mission of delivering innovative products to surgeons and patients around the world.” “Zimmer Trauma has a long-standing tradition of serving surgeons in trauma care and we believe our products offer the best in ease-of-use and quality,” said Brian K. Hutchison, president and CEO of RTI Surgical.
